The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards were dominated by “diversity,” “Mrs. Maisel” and a surprise proposal.
It’s a tie: HBO and Netflix won 23 Emmys each. And it was a big night for Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which took five more awards.
“Game of Thrones” received 22 Emmy nominations, the most of any show. Netflix claimed the most nominations of any service or channel, displacing HBO from the top spot.
The pair host “Saturday Night Live’s” Weekend Update together and serve as head writers on the show.
After a Twitter feud with the real President Trump, Alec Baldwin lampooned him again on “Saturday Night Live,” while the host Charles Barkley gave a pointed monologue.
This week’s “S.N.L.” featured cameos from two of its alumni, a workout for the network’s censors and the usual skewering of President Trump.
Right before Christmas, “S.N.L.” delivered a holiday message from the White House, with President Trump (Alec Baldwin) and company decorating a tree.
The show’s summer version, which will still feature Colin Jost and Michael Che, will have four half-hour episodes, starting Aug. 10.
